Pertemps in driving seat for launch of revolutionary car-sharing pilot
WHEN second city Birmingham needed a first class operator to launch a pioneering free floating car sharing service – the ‘smart money’ was on leading recruitment specialists Pertemps.
And 20 of the award-winning Midlands company’s 150-strong pool from
drivers@Pertemps found themselves buzzing round the city supplying a grand prix service for the introduction of the revolutionary car-sharing scheme.
Brum has become the first regional capital to bring in smart’s flexible free-floating car2go car programme.
Some 250 “low CO2″ smartfourtwo coupes are now available to hire over an area of 21 square miles of the city.
“It’s a great idea – and one that can be used for business or pleasure for people living and working in Birmingham as well as visitors,” said
Drivers@Pertemps senior driving consultant Mark Parry.
The car2go service from Daimler, who owns the smart car, couldn’t be simpler to use – if you’re a driver coming to the Midlands capital on a short run but in need of your ‘own transport’.
Car2Go is currently offering as part of its Launch FREE life Membership (worth £29.90) plus 30 minutes FreeDriving time rates can be found at http://www.car2go.com/en/Birmingham using promotional code BHX30REG and includes fuel, insurance, road tax, maintenance and parking in any council pay and display parking bay.
Drivers can locate available cars through the car2go website or using a free app. Users then simply touch a card reader with their membership card, get in and drive off.
Vehicles can be used with the freedom to park in any council-operated bay within the city area between Oxhill Road, Pershore Road, Vicarage Road, Highfield Road, City Road, Grove Park, Stratford Road and Aston Park.
Drivers simply hold their car2go member card to the windscreen to
gain entry to the vehicle. The keys will be waiting inside so they can get going straight away.
When they’re done with the vehicle, they end the session the same way they started it. The car doesn’t have to be used for a minimum or predetermined amount of time.
Car2go has made Birmingham its UK headquarters, a point which pleased
Councillor Tahir Ali, Birmingham City Council’s cabinet member for Development, Jobs and Skills, who launched the scheme – with the aid of
Mr Parry said: “Our drivers were required to roll out the vehicles for the scheme by parking up all 250 cars at specific locations and then help with the promotion around Birmingham this week.
“Drivers@Pertemps is delighted to have built an excellent relationship with car2go and look forward to a long and successful partnership,” added Mr Parry, whose Pertemps offices in Bennetts Hill, Birmingham, can be contacted on 0121 233 2222 or via email email@example.com
